The Actively Caring Challenge: 5 acts in 7 days

Actively Caring is any behavior that goes beyond the call of duty for the welfare of others.

In an effort to promote caring and study altruism and subjective well-being, a study has been developed called “The Actively Caring 5 acts in 7 days Challenge.” Leaders will be performing an intentional or random act of kindness for 5 of 7 days. As a token of appreciation, each leader will receive a green “Actively Caring For People” wristband to wear as reminder of their challenge.

In the Spring of 2010, dozens of Virginia Tech students participated in the Actively Caring challenge and research study to measure the effect of altruism on happiness. Results will be published and available Fall 2010.
